Netflix kondigt een nieuwe serie aan over de Zweedse start-up die de hele muziekindustrie heeft opgeschud en is uitgegroeid tot ‘s werelds meest toonaangevende muziekdienst: Spotify. De miniserie is gebaseerd op het boek ‘Spotify Untold’ en geschreven door journalisten Sven Carlsson en Jonas Leijonhufvud. De serie wordt geproduceerd door Yellow Bird UK, een Banijay Group Company en het productiehuis achter de aankomende Netflix-serie ‘Young Wallander’. De geprezen regisseur Per-Olav Sørensen (Quicksand, Home for Christmas en Nobel) zal de serie regisseren. De uitvoerende producent is Berna Levin (bekend van o.a. Young Wallander, Hidden en The Girl Who Played with Fire).
Op het hoogtepunt van de muziekpiraterij besloot een invloedrijke groep om het tij te keren en een andere weg in te slaan dan die van de muziekindustrie. De serie draait om de jonge Zweedse tech entrepreneur Daniel Ek en zijn partner Martin Lorentzon, die samen zorgden voor een revolutie in de muziekindustrie door op een makkelijke, gratis en legale manier over de hele wereld muziek te streamen. Het toont hoe je dankzij sterke overtuigingen, een enorme drive en grote dromen de gevestigde orde kunt uitdagen.

De Zweedse-Engelse serie wordt ontwikkeld en geproduceerd door Yellow Bird UK, met Berna Levin als uitvoerend producent en Luke Franklin als producent. Per-Olav Sørensen, bekend van o.a. Quicksand, Home for Christmas en Nobel zal de regie voor zijn rekening nemen
